    Work

    I have spent many years in computer systems development, working for a number of companies large and small, in the UK and the USA. I have worked for public companies and founded a number of start-ups as well. My interests and skills are in the low level system hardware and software and I have a proven track record in delivering systems with ultra-high scalability, ultra-high performance, high integrity and security, high reliability and availability. Systems that found their way into Financial Service Enterprises or Internet and Telecommunication projects such as Zadu (annotate any web page in the universe) or Video on Demand using nCUBE supercomputers. I have a lot of experience in designing and building modern web-based applications using J2EE and XML and all of their related tools and services. Although my role is often CTO or Chief Architect my skills also include building the team of people who develop, maintain and support these enterprise level systems.

    Rather then simply give you conventional resume to read, take a look at some of the thoughts and ideas I have found useful and valuable to live by and to work by.

    First some definitions: * Effort * Attitude * Success * Team *

    Management is getting things done by other people - here are the rules for getting things done:
    * Persistence * Teamwork * A Customer * Quality * Rule#1 * Don't Quit * Excellence *

    And here are 12 points to live by (I don't know who wrote these, if you do, please let me know). They do provide a great snapshot of what I have found works.

    On a less serious note, as I think about my personal evolution from a student to executive, the famous Evolution of a Programmer always makes me smile, I hope it does for you too.

    Of course, you can learn a lot from Noah's Ark.

    Finally, you can find my conventional resume here.

       Cornish Magic

       Pixies, slipping, fitting, stealing;
       Elf-bells, ringing, swinging, peeling;
       Mermaids, giants, tin-mine fairies,
       Piskies, whiskies, maids-in-dairies;
       Moonlight in a fairy ring;
       Breezes in a frenzied fling;
       Bronze, bare mountains, rolling high;
       Druids' heaps and seagulls' cry;
       Magic-made, when time began,
       The Cornish coast, enchanted land.
